2026 Members Summer Picnic with Kate Malone MBE

Our Honorary Ambassador, Kate Malone, is inviting up to 80 members of London Potters and the English Ceramic Circle (ECC) to a picnic at her Kent farmhouse on 22 August 2026.
As part of the day, Kate will facilitate an informal critical discussion session, encouraging participants to share and discuss their work with fellow makers and ECC members. The aim is to foster constructive dialogue, fresh perspectives, and mutual learning through open and thoughtful exchange.
The event also offers a valuable opportunity for collaboration between contemporary ceramic artists and ECC members, whose expertise spans the history, collecting, curation, and study of British ceramics. By bringing together practitioners and researchers, the gathering will encourage the exchange of ideas, provide historical context for current work, and strengthen connections across the ceramic community. ECC members will gain insight into contemporary ceramic practice, while makers will benefit from the Circle’s extensive knowledge of ceramic history and traditions.

What you need to bring:
- Picnic blanket
- Your picnic lunch
- Optional (but we hope you would): please bring your work to take part in a ‘critical analysis’ conversation with ECC. This work could be a completed piece, work in progress e.g. glaze tests, designs, prototypes
Travel information:
- Detailed joining instructions will be sent to you once you purchase your ticket so you can make travel arrangements
- There will be an option for you to notify us if you would like to car-share when you book the ticket. If you choose to car-share, your details will be shared with others who wish to car-share
