Saggar Firing with Nam Tran
During this workshop, attendees will learn to saggar fire using the burrito firing method (as is called in America) i.e. using temporary saggar to insulate the pots in a raku kiln and using different matters and ferric chloride to create effects on burnished forms.
Attendees will need to bring two bisqued, burnished with terrasig forms, no larger than 5 inch/13cm cubed each. Attendees will spend 1 hour preparing the saggar and understanding what will happen inside the kiln and what materials will offer which effects. The pots will then be loaded into the kiln for 40/50 minutes. The attendees will then assess the outcomes.
