London Potters… Make Your Mark
Created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of London Potters, Make Your Mark is a collaborative work that reflects the community, creativity and shared spirit at the heart of the organisation.
The interactive installation began with four large ceramic forms made by Adrian Gonzalez, Christophe Donot, Roberto Gagliano and Lindy Barletta. During a public event held at the Art Workers’ Guild in March, visitors were invited to leave their own marks on the work, transforming it into a collective record of participation and engagement.
The event brought together makers, students and ceramics enthusiasts, with contributions from distinguished speakers and demonstrators including Richard Miller, Gemma Gowland, Kate Malone, Felicity Aylieff and Stuart Carey, who each added their own mark to the piece. Trustees of London Potters also contributed, further embedding the organisation’s history and legacy within the work.
The project acknowledges London Potters’ long standing association with Morley College London, whose students volunteered throughout the event and helped make the celebration possible.
As both artwork and archive, Make Your Mark captures a moment in the life of London Potters. The accumulation of individual marks speaks to forty years of shared learning, generosity and creative exchange, celebrating not only the organisation’s history but also the community that continues to shape its future.
