Lise Herud Braten has been invited back to Sladers Yard for her second solo show.
Lise says: “I’m really looking forward to seeing the new work in this truly beautiful gallery space. I have continued the development of sculptural pieces, and will be showing a larger collection of these than ever before. It’s a mix of excitement and trepidation to show them, as they are very personal to me, they really feel like a part of me and the landscape that fills me and makes me who I am, and I hope they’ll be well received. There is also a large collection of more familiar forms, a couple of very large moon-vases and many smaller ones, bottle forms and open vessels”.
Opening Reception Saturday 12 September 12-2pm
Sladers Yard Gallery, West Bay Road, West Bay, Bridport, Dorset DT6 4EL
The exhibition continues in the gallery and online until 14 November, and the collection is available to preview now. Please contact Anna at the gallery for any enquiries.

Her work will be on show alongside a solo show of paintings by David Inshaw, and a collection of beautiful steam-bent wooden furniture by fellow Norwegian Petter Southall.
Gallery opening times are Wednesday to Saturday 10-4pm.

Subtle changes to classic forms
“I feel the need to constantly experiment and try new things, and this series is a result of that. I’m fascinated with how wood when worked in the green and fresh state twists and moves and creates its own shape independently from the maker’s hand, and have tried to emulate something akin to that with these forms. They’re thrown on the wheel to a classic shape, then distorted and moved around whilst the clay is still very wet. I’m intrigued by how much I can push before the form collapses, and at which point I end with something that is both beautiful and interesting, rather than just disfigured and weird. I like the personality they take on, outside of my control, but influenced by my decisions. They form a sort of bridge, a half way point, between my classic vases and the very distorted Pod pieces”, declares Lise Herud Braten.
