Path and Inspiration
I discovered ceramics later in life - almost like a spiritual gift. After decades in tech commercial roles, I found clay in my 40s, and the encounter has been all-consuming - I feel like an ocean of ideas was lying dormant in my subconscious, waiting to be discovered.
I am inspired by the intersection between the spiritual and the natural world with its perpetually expanding creativity. I am also aiming for my pieces to feel "true" - to stay as close as possible to their essence and textures.Process and Practice
I work predominantly without glaze, preserving the porosity and colours of raw clay. I am currently in an agateware and monoprinting phase, experimenting with surface decoration that isn't centred around glazes. Everything I make is handbuilt and unique, because I am following creative ideas and impressing them on clay - "catching the fish" before they disappear underwater in David Lynch's words :)
