Path and Inspiration
A lifelong maker, I first discovered clay in my twenties during a ceramics evening class, where I found a medium that brought together my creative and scientific interests. After a City & Guilds in Ceramics and a three-year artist residency in North London, I developed my spiral-inspired, hand-built sculptural style and began exhibiting my work. In 2019 I formally launched ABCeramics, and with the support of Oxfordshire Artweeks, started working professionally on commissions and exhibitions.Process and Practice
I specialise in abstract, nature-inspired sculpture and ceramics suitable for both indoor and outdoor display. I mainly slab-build stoneware sculpture using grogged clay, finished with dry matt glazes developed from my own recipes to create surfaces evocative of lichens and patinas. The spiral has become a key theme to my work, both as an aesthetically pleasing form and as a significant symbol found throughout life and the universe.
