Path and Inspiration
Making objects by hand, drawing and playing musical instruments have been really important to me since childhood. I formalised the 'making' by studying ceramics part time, obtaining "Professional Development Diploma, Fine Art Ceramics".
I am fascinated by the qualities of bonechina and porcelain clays and create translucent vessels inspired by natural form, music and plant growth, pushing the technical boundaries to the limits.Process and Practice
I hand build porcelain and bone china folded forms using my coiled formers for support. These are fired in an electric kiln.
The practice of slipcasting with bone china and porcelain is a technique I also enjoy. I make my own plaster moulds. Focusing on families of work I explore colour vibrancy, testing single colour, colour overlays using stains and glazes. I enjoy exploring narrative surface treatment.
Work is in private collections both in the UK and abroad.
