Path and Inspiration
We (Gill and Sarah) established Living Clay a year ago when the once a week pottery classes at our local college were no longer enough to scratch the pottery itch. A couple of wheels, a kiln, a slab roller and a few tools and we were ready to invite others to join our little collaboration. We’re learning and growing in ability and confidence. We’ve sold at a couple of markets and loved sharing our work.Process and Practice
I (Gill) am definitely a thrower. Like many people, I have always told myself that I’m not ‘arty’ so I’ve always focused on process. I lean heavily into understanding the chemistry of clay and glaze but am now becoming much more confident in my creative skills. Sarah is quite the opposite. A talented artist who can recreate anything from a cute koala to a troupe l’oeil bouquet of flowers. She concentrates on hand building. Between us we share our skills with the other members of our group.
