Path and Inspiration
I first started potting whilst living in Barcelona where I began an apprenticeship with traditional earthenware potter Mario Leal. I never looked back and continued to study pottery in Granada and Tuscany before returning to my hometown of London to set up my own studio where I make my pots and teach throwing and glaze development courses.Process and Practice
I work mostly on the potter's wheel, throwing with a variety of stoneware clays, and decorating with wild clay slips and my own glazes, using brushed slip (hakame) decoration and rhythmic carving to create tactile surfaces. Materials and firing processes are key as I try to find a balance between earthy strength and fragility in my pots.
