Jeanne has always been influenced by the natura world flora and fauna havecontinually been a source of inspiration. Lots of experiments with glazes have been made to replicate the reds of reduction in oxidation –symbolic of the ‘blood of life’ – an exploration of femininity immersed in fantasy.Process and Practice
Pots are thrown and turned and fired in an electric kiln. The clay is semi- porcelain, a combination of reds and some red/blue glazes are painstakingly hand painted to each piece. In the kiln, the alchemy of glaze and heat creates the effloresence on every piece. The melt delivers the mystical blooms, perennial on every piece, an organic psychedelic aesthetic, which may or may not exist in nature.Jeanne's studio is in Maidenhead where she teaches and makes her own work.
