Path and Inspiration
I am a ceramicist and mixed media collage artist based in Hertfordshire .Originally from Scotland I studied Textile Design working for many years as a Printed Textile Designer . My inspiration comes from the built environment , from places visited both at home and abroad. I then create ceramics and paintings which capture a sense of place ,the colour ,texture, atmosphere and light.Process and Practice
The layering process has always been important in my work. My current buildings vessels are handbuilt utilising slabs in stoneware clay. I use various techniques including scraffito, inlay, stencilling and printing to apply slips and underglazes to create depth and texture
