Path and Inspiration
I have been making most of my adult life, but my professional practice was kickstarted by the MA I completed in 2014 where I found my voice as a sculptor. Since then I have exhibited up and down the country, including Ceramic Art London, Collect Open, and Sasama International Festival of Ceramics in Japan. I am inspired by the corporeality and physiology of the body and aim to create organic forms which evoke a visceral response, whilst also resonating across the natural and human-made world.Process and Practice
My approach is intuitive, trusting the material to help guide the process to produce work that conjures ideas of the body, evoking the visceral, whilst also suggestive of landscape, fossilised remains or a relic of a bygone age - familiar, yet strange, uncomfortable, intriguing. I handbuild, using techniques that suit my purpose, and often incorporate found and sourced materials both pre and post-firing. I am a selected member of the Craft Potters Association and the Royal Society of Sculptors.
