Path and Inspiration
I am a ceramic artist based in London and mid Wales making individual slipware pieces. I love the warmth, history and tradition of slipware ceramics, and the richness of clay surfaces printed, painted and trailed with coloured slips. Nature in cities is fascinating, whether it’s urban gardening, bee-keeping on rooftops, vertical gardens or creatures living wild alongside people. They all adapted to living in cities, and my slipware urban creatures are meant to reflect this.Process and Practice
Recent ceramic work is mainly hand built and then decorated using traditional slipware techniques. It is inspired by English slipware traditions and creatures found living alongside us in the city. I also produce ceramics screen-printed with images photographed around the city of the urban landscape.
