Path and Inspiration
The porcelain ceramic work are a deeply personal, evocative response to the Grenfell Tower
disaster, embodying both grief and outrage over the tragic injustice. The hand-built
construction of this work signifies the meticulous care and humanity that was neglected in
the events leading to Grenfell’s destruction. Each step of the process, from shaping the
porcelain to applying glazes, serves as a commentary on the frailty and resilience of life.Process and Practice
Methods used evoke architectural reference points—ventilation shafts, tower blocks, facades—and their contradictions.
Brushstrokes express chaos, juxtaposed with rigid, mechanical cuts, creating tension between expression and containment.
Textures from net curtains to homeware objects, once tools of domestic softness, fossilized
into clay, become ghostly imprints of private interiors—spaces of memory, surveillance, and
concealment. Stamped text disrupts the surface—urgent, unresolved, and raw.
