Path and Inspiration
Su graduated from Cardiff School of Art and Design in 1995 with a degree in ceramics, focusing on the human image. This lead to a career as a hair and make up artist for film and television, later returning to ceramics.Process and Practice
Su Thompson throws stoneware vessels paired with crystalline glazes. Using her own developed recipes, she encourages the growth of small, abundant crystals. Inspired by the coast and surrounding landscape, her practice explores the relationship between form, surface and glaze chemistry. She favours muted colours and patterns formed through fluid glazes and the handmade process.
