Path and Inspiration
I create ceramic sculptures and wall pieces. They are quirky and playful as I seek to give personality to each piece. Their aim is to be joyful and to remind the viewer that we still live in a world of wonders and possibilities.
We are increasingly isolated from nature, the spirit world and each other. My work seeks to act as a reminder that this solitude is reversible. Inspired by mythology and the natural world, my intention is to evoke childhood memories of optimism and limitless potential.Process and Practice
I like to experiment with form and technique. Each piece starts with desk research and I mainly use slab building and carving techniques. Much of my work is earthenware as the pieces are non-functional and often have extreme shapes and bright colours. These are often decorated with a range of coloured slips, glazes and hand-cut decals.
