Path and Inspiration
I have become increasingly addicted to ceramics, learning from classes and specialist workshops. I was involved in the early days of the Oxford Anagama project, meeting and learning from a variety of potters. In 2016 I set-up and began making in my studio at the end of my unruly garden looking out at plants and flowers. My pots are functional, they are made to be used and enjoyed. All are thrown, generally in white stoneware. I am drawn to a palette of muted cream, grey, blues and greens.Process and Practice
I enjoy throwing chiefly white stonewares, somettimes mixed with crank. Whilst I thought that learning to throw would be difficult, I now know that glazing is more complex than it appears. Despite an initial training as a botany technician, I still find the results of the glazes I mix rather unexpected. I am interested in developing textures and colours from the interactions between glazes and oxides and frequently use leaves to imprint glaze.
